Ndalamo Resources Set to Lead Conversations on Future-Proofing African Mining at 2025 Investing in African Mining Indaba

Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa – 28 January 2025 – Ndalamo Resources (*Ndalamo*) is set to participate in the 2025 Investing in African Mining Indaba, a premier platform for mining industry leaders, taking place from February 3 to 6, 2025 at the CTICC1 in Cape Town, South Africa. This marks the third consecutive year that Ndalamo Resources will be engaging at the event, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable mining practices and addressing key issues shaping the future of African mining.

The theme for this year’s Mining Indaba, “Future-Proofing African Mining, Today”, aligns with Ndalamos’ own theme for 2025: “Shumela Vhathu” – working for our people and society in Venda. For Ndalamo, Shumela Vhathu is not merely a slogan, but a guiding principle that drives the company’s actions, ensuring that its operations benefit not only the company but also the communities in which it operates, particularly in the Vhenda region.

Shammy Luvhengo, CEO of Ndalamo Resources, will take part in a prominent panel discussion titled “Is Achieving the Social License to Operate Enough to Future-Proof African Mining?” The panel, which will take place on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, from 14:00 to 15:00, will also feature senior executives from the Mineral Council of South Africa, DRC Ministry of Mines and African Natural Resources Watch, among others. The discussion will focus on whether community development efforts are as impactful as they could be, how the industry can move beyond simply obtaining a social license to operate, and whether the social license to operate is the biggest risk to the critical minerals mining sector. It will also explore how to bridge the gap between the intended uses of minerals and their impact on local communities.

Shammy Luvhengo, CEO of Ndalamo, stated: “Being part of the Investing in African Mining Indaba is an important strategic opportunity for us to engage with other industry leaders, policy makers, and stakeholders on the pressing issues facing African mining. Our commitment to Shumela Vhathu drives our focus on ensuring that our operations not only contribute to economic growth but also to the sustainable development of the communities we serve. As we move forward, it is crucial that we go beyond simply securing a social license to operate. We must address the tangible impacts of our activities on communities and ensure that mining serves as a force for positive, long-term change.”

Ndalamo remains steadfast in its commitment to the principles of sustainability, community development, and responsible mining practices. The company continues to advocate for industry-wide solutions that ensure African mining remains viable and beneficial for generations to come.
